GivingTuesday + The Exodus Road

In this world, we live in the tension of abounding privilege and immense need. GivingTuesday was created to build a world in which “the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity and equity around the globe.”

Founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, GivingTuesday spun out into its own organization in 2019, led by GivingTuesday co-founder, Asha Curran, as its CEO. It has now become a day of global generosity towards others and nonprofits, and last year alone raised nearly 400 million dollars -- in a single day.

This year, GivingTuesday takes place on December 3rd, and as the movement states on their website, it's a day to "unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world."

#givingtuesday and the exodus road

At The Exodus Road, we say that “justice is in the hands of the ordinary.” You don’t need special skills to help fight human trafficking. Your contribution matters and enables our global teams of operatives to investigate, identify, and rescue men, women, and children living in slavery. It is such a powerful and uniting experience when we all come together on this one day of the year to stand in support for the vulnerable.

Some people can give $10, others share our content online. Some give $1000, while other people start fundraisers for us. Each action matters, and GivingTuesday continues to show our community the power of coming together.

In addition to proving the power of community, the financial gifts that our organization receives during this one day remain a critical part of our operating budget every year, ensuring that the front line work of rescue continues.

This year, our goal is to raise $150,000 in only 24 hours. With these funds, we'll be equipping nationals with technology and investigations to arrest traffickers, assisting police with rescue operations, and empowering social workers and after care programs to help survivors heal.

how you can help

Each year on GivingTuesday, we have supporters give financially, advocate for us online, and some who launch their own fundraising campaigns on Facebook on our behalf. Last year, our social media campaign reached over 40,000 individuals on Facebook alone. It's a day of connection and generosity on multiple levels. Here's how you can jump in:

GIVE (x2!). Your donations given through our website on December 3rd will be matched for double the impact. Every bit helps!

SHARE. Every like, comment, or share on social media is a help to us on this day! We are most active on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@TheExodusRoad). Jump in and spread the social media love!

FUNDRAISE. It take about two minutes to launch a  Facebook Fundraiser. Set a goal and rally your friends on GivingTuesday! (We've even made a simple tutorial for you here.)

“There IS something we can all do to fight against the evils of human trafficking. From sharing the posts to financially supporting the workers in the field. You can be a part of the rescue.” - Melinda, TER supporter

See you on Dec. 3rd!

Be sure to join the TER community this GivingTuesday on our website and on social media. It will be a day of generosity and impact you won't want to miss!
